நாவல்பழ ருசி

ஒரு ஜென் குருவிற்கு மிகவும் வயதாகி விட்டது மரணம் நெருங்கி வருவது தெரிந்தவுடன் தன்னுடைய சீடர்களை அழைத்தார்.

சீடர்கள் அனைவரும் குரு தங்களுக்கு ஏதோ சொல்லிக்கொடுக்கப் போகிறார் என்று அருகில் வந்தார்கள்.

"நான் இன்று மாலை நேரத்திற்குள் இறந்துவிடுவேன்" என்று தெரிவித்தக் குருவை அவர்கள் அனைவரும் கவலையுடன் பார்த்தனர்.

விஷயத்தை அறிந்தவுடன் வெளியில் சென்றிருந்த சீடர்கள், ஆசிரமத்தில் வேலை பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த சீடர்கள், குருவிற்குப் பழக்கமானவர்கள், தெரிந்தவர்கள் என அனைவரும் அவரைப் பார்ப்பதற்காக வந்து கொண்டே இருந்தார்கள்.

அப்போது ஆசிரமத்தில் இருந்த அனுபவம் வாய்ந்த சீடர் ஒருவர் கடைவீதிக்குப் புறப்பட்டார். மற்ற சீடர்களுக்கெல்லாம் ஒரே கோபம். குரு மரணப் படுக்கையில் இருக்கும்போது கடைவீதியில் என்ன வாங்க வேண்டியிருக்கிறது என்று சத்தம் போட்டார்கள்.

" நம்முடைய குருவிற்கு நாவல் பழம் மிகவும் பிடிக்கும். அதனால் அவருக்கு அதை வாங்கித் தரலாம் என்று தான் நான் கடைவீதிக்குப் புறப்பட்டேன்" என்று பதிலளித்தார் அந்தச் சீடர்.

" சரி சரி சீக்கிரமாக வாங்கி வந்து குருவிற்குக் கொடுத்து விடு" என்றார்கள் மற்றச் சீடர்கள்.

அவர் போன சிறிது நேரத்திற்குள் குரு கண்களைத்  திறப்பதும், மூடுவதுமாகச் சீடர்களுக்குக் கண்ணாமூச்சிக் காட்டிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்.

மூத்த சீடர் அவசரமாக உள்ளே நுழைந்தார். உடனே"வந்து விட்டாயா? எங்கே நாவல் பழம்?"  என்று குரு ஆவலாக் கேட்டார்.

அவருடையை கையில் நாவல் பழங்களைக் கொடுத்தார் சீடர். மிகவும் ஆவலோடு அந்தப் பழங்களை வாங்கிய குருவின் கைகள் நடுங்காமல் இருப்பதைக் கண்ட சீடருக்கு ஒரே ஆச்சரியம்.

" குருவே தள்ளாத வயதானபோதும் தங்கள் கைகளில் நடுக்கம் இல்லையே?" என்று ஆச்சரியமாகக் கேட்டார்.

குரு புன்கைத்தப்படியே, "என் கைகள் எப்போதும் எந்த சூழ்நிலையிலும் நடுங்கியதே இல்லை. ஏனென்றால் நான் எதற்காகவும் பயந்ததே கிடையாது" என்று கூறிய அவர் ஆசையாக நாவல் பழங்களைச் சாப்பிடத் தொடங்கினார்.

மற்றொரு சீடர் குருவின் அருகே வந்து, "குருவே தாங்கள் கூடிய விரைவில் இவ்வுலக வாழ்வை முடித்துக் கொள்ளப் போகிறீர்கள். எங்களுக்குத் தங்கள் கடைசியாக உபதேசிப்பது என்ன?" என்றார்.

அனைத்துச் சீடர்களும் தங்கள் குரு என்ன சொல்லப்போகிறார், அவரின் கடைசி உபதேசம் என்ன? என்று அவரின் முகத்தையே ஆவலாகப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

குரு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து மீண்டும் புன்னகைத்தார், "இந்த நாவல் பழங்கள் எவ்வளவு சுவையாக இருக்கின்றன" என்று கூறினார்.

குருவின் கடைசி மூச்சும் நின்றுபோனது.

A Zen master was very old and when he knew his death was approaching he called his disciples.

 All the disciples came near the Guru who was going to teach them something.

 They all looked worriedly at the Guru who informed him, "I will die by this evening."

 On learning about the matter, disciples who had gone outside, disciples who were working in the ashram, acquaintances and acquaintances of the Guru kept coming to see him.

 Then an experienced disciple from the ashram left for the shop. All the other disciples have the same anger. When the Guru was on his deathbed, they made a noise in the shopping street about what they had to buy.

"Our Guru is very fond of novel fruit, so I went to the market to buy it for him," replied the disciple.

 "Alright, get it soon and give it to Guru," said the other disciples.

 Within a short time of his departure, the Guru was opening and closing his eyes and winking at the disciples.

 The senior disciple hurried in. Immediately, "Have you come? Where is the novel fruit?" Guru Avalak asked.

 The disciple gave him novel fruits in his hand. The disciple was surprised to see that the guru's hands did not tremble when he eagerly bought the fruits.

 "Do not their hands tremble even when they are old and not pushed by the Guru?" He asked in surprise.

 As the Guru said, "My hands never trembled under any circumstances. Because I was never afraid of anything," he eagerly began to eat the novel fruit.

 Another disciple approached the Guru and said, "Master, you are going to end this worldly life as soon as possible. What is your last message to us?" said.

 All the disciples wonder what their guru is going to say, what is his last sermon? They were looking at his face eagerly.

 The Guru smiled again at them and said, "How delicious these novel fruits are."

 The Guru's last breath also stopped.
