ராஜாவும், ஒரு பரம ஏழையும் (A King and An Very Poor man)

ஒரு நாட்டின் ராஜா தன் குழந்தையின் பிறந்த நாளை முன்னிட்டு கோவிலில் அன்னதானம் செய்துகொண்டிருந்தான். அப்போது ஒரு பரம ஏழை வரிசையில் வந்து நின்றான்.

அவனை பார்த்த மற்றவர்கள் முகம் சுளித்து ஒதுங்கி நின்றனர். இதை உணர்ந்த அந்த ஏழை, இவர்களுக்குத்தான் நம்மை பிடிக்கவில்லையே, வரிசையில் நிற்காமல் ஒதுங்கி நின்று எல்லோரும் அன்னதானம் பெற்றபின்பு நாம் வாங்கிக்கொள்வோம் என்று தள்ளி நின்றான்.

நேரம் போய்க் கொண்டே இருந்தது. இவன் தள்ளி நின்றதால் இவனுக்குப் பின்னால் வந்தவர்கள் எல்லாரும் அன்னதானம் பெற்றார்கள். இவனை ஏளனம் செய்து சிரித்துவிட்டுப் போனார்கள்.  இவன் வாயைத் திறந்து எதுவும் சொல்லவில்லை என்றாலும் மனதிற்குள் ஒரு சோகம் இருக்கத்தான் செய்தது.

எல்லோருக்கும் தரப்படும் அன்னதானம் கூட நமக்கு கிடைக்க எவ்வளவு காத்திருப்பு? எவ்வளவு போராட்டம்? எவ்வளவு ஏளனப்பார்வை? போன ஜென்மத்தில் என்ன பாவம் செய்தோமோ இப்படி கஷ்டப்படுகிறேன்? என்று தன் விதியை நினைத்து நொந்துகொண்டான்.

மாலைவரை காத்திருந்தும் யாரும் முன் வந்து அன்னதானம் கொடுக்கவில்லை சரி நமக்கு இன்று பட்டினி என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறது. அதை யாரால் மாற்ற முடியும் என்று மனதிற்குள் நினைத்தவன்.

'அப்பனே ஆண்டவா... என்னை ஏனப்பா இப்படி ஒரு ஏழை பிறவியாக பிறக்கச் செய்தாய்' என்று கோபுரத்தை பார்த்து மனதில் உள்ள தன் குமுறலைச் சொல்லி அழுதுவிட்டு கோவில் அருகே உள்ள குளத்தங்கரையில் சென்று அமர்ந்தான்.

அரசன் அன்னதானம் கொடுத்துவிட்டு களைப்பாக இருந்ததால் சிறிதுநேரம் படித்துறையில் காலாற நடந்து வந்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்..

" என்னப்பா.. சாட்டிட்டாயா?" என்று ஒரு பத்தடி தூரத்திலிருந்து குளத்தில் தன் முகத்ததை பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த அந்த ஏழையிடம் கேட்டார்.

கேட்பது ராஜா என்று தெரியாமல் " ஊரே சாப்பிட்டது.. என் தலையில் இன்று பட்டினி என்று எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது என்று விரக்தியாக, முகத்தை திருப்பாமல் குளத்து நீரை பார்த்தபடியே பதில் சொன்னான் அந்த ஏழை.

அவன் சொன்ன பதில் ராஜாவின் மனதை உருக்கியது. என் முதல் குழந்தை பிறந்தநாளில் ஊர் மக்கள் யாரும் பசியுடன் உறங்கச் செல்ல கூடாது என்றுதானே அன்னதானம் ஏற்பாடு செய்தோம்?

ஆனால், ஒரு அப்பாவி ஏழை பசியால் இப்படி புலம்புவதைக் கேட்டு, ஏழையின் தோளில் கை வைத்து "மன்னித்துவிடப்பா.. ரொம்ப பசிக்கிறதா உனக்கு?" என்று கேட்க.

அதுவரை சரியாக கவனிக்காத ஏழை, குளத்து நீரில் தலையில் கீரிடம், காதில் குண்டலம், நெற்றியில் திருநீர், முகத்தில் வாஞ்சை என்று ராஜா தெரிய, திடுக்கிட்டு எழுந்தான்.

'ராஜா.. நீங்கள் என்று தெரியாமல் அமர்ந்துகொண்டே பதில் சொல்லிவிட்டேன்.. மன்னிக்க வேண்டுகிறேன்' என்று பதறினான்.

இவனின் பண்பை பார்த்த ராஜா சத்தமாக சிரித்தார், 'வா.. இன்று நீ என்னோடும் என் குழந்தையோடும் விருந்து உண்ணப்போகிறாய்' என்று அவனை பேசவிடாமல் இழுத்துச் சென்று அவரின் தேரில் ஏற்றிக் கொண்டு, அரண்மனைக்கு விரைந்தார்.

'போய் குளித்துவிட்டு வா' என்று தனக்கென்று வாங்கி வைத்திருந்த புதிய ஆடைகளில் ஒன்றை அவனுக்கு கொடுத்தார். குளித்து, புத்தாடை அணிந்து வந்த ஏழைக்கு அறுசுவை விருந்து கொடுத்தார்.

விருந்து முடித்ததும் அவன் கையில் ஒரு குடம் நிறைய பொற்காசுகளை கொடுத்து,

'இன்றிலிருந்து நீ ஏழை இல்லை...

இந்த பணத்தை வைத்து நீ விரும்பும் தொழிலை நேர்மையாக செய்து கெளரவமாக வாழ்" என்று வாழ்த்தினார்.

அதுவரை அமைதியாக இருந்த ஏழையின் கண்ணில் தாரை தாரையாக கண்ணீர் கொட்டியது.

'ஏனப்பா அழுகிறாய்?" என்று ராஜா கேட்க." நான் இதுநாள் வரை பிறவி ஏழை மட்டும்தான் நினைத்திருந்தேன் ராஜா... இந்தத் தருணம்தான் நான் ஒரு பிறவி முட்டாள் என்று புரிந்துகொண்டேன்" என்று சொன்னான்.

ராஜாவே ஏன் அப்படிச் சொல்கிறாய் என்று கேட்க " வாழ்க்கையில் இன்றுதான் முதல் முறையாக கோபுரத்தை பார்த்து என்னை ஏன் இப்படி வைத்திருக்கிறாய் என்று இறைவனிடம் கேட்டேன்... கேட்ட சில நிமிடங்களில் உங்களை அனுப்பி என் தலையெழுத்தையே மாற்றிவிட்டான்...

கடவுளிடம் கேட்டால் நாம் கேட்டதை விட  இன்னும் பல மடங்கு தருவான் என்று இன்றுவரை புரியாமல் ஒரு முட்டாளாகத்தானே இருந்துள்ளேன்" என்று சொல்லி அழுதான்..

இப்படி நான் உங்களுக்கு ஒரு விஷயம் நமக்கு நடக்கவில்லை அல்லது ஏதோ ஒரு தடங்கல் வருகிறது என்றால் அதற்கு நிச்சியம் ஏதோ ஒரு பலமான காரணம் இருக்கும்.

உங்களுக்கு ஒன்று கிடைக்கவில்லை என்றால் சராசரியை விட மிகச் சிறந்த ஒன்றை நமக்காக கடவுள் தரப்போகிறார் என்று முதலில் நம்புங்கள் நம்பினால் அதை தருவதற்கு கடவுள் தயாராகவே இருப்பார்..

A king of a country was giving alms in a temple on the occasion of his child's birthday. Then a very poor person came and stood in line.

 The others who saw him frowned and stood aside. Realizing this, the poor man said that these are the only people who don't like us, so instead of standing in line, he stood aside saying that after everyone has received alms, we will take it.

 Time was passing. As he stayed away, all those who came behind him received alms. They laughed at him and left. Even though he didn't open his mouth and say anything, there was a sadness in his heart.

 How long do we have to wait to get even the alms given to everyone? How much struggle? How sarcastic? I am suffering like this because of what sin we have committed in the past life? Thinking of his fate, he was devastated.

 Even though we waited until evening, no one came forward and gave us food. It is written that we are hungry today. He thought to himself who can change it.

 'O Lord... You have made me to be born as such a poor person', he cried, looking at the tower and expressing his grief in his heart, he went and sat in the pond near the temple.

The king was tired after giving alms, so he was walking for a while in Patidura.

 "What? Did you get slapped?" asked the poor man who was watching his face in the pond from a distance of ten feet.

 Not knowing that it was the king who was asking, the poor man replied in despair, looking at the pond water without turning his face, "The village has eaten.. It is written in my head that today is hunger."

'Raja.. I answered while sitting without knowing it was you.. I beg your pardon,' he said nervously.

 The king laughed loudly when he saw his character and said, 'Come...today you are going to have a feast with me and my child.'

 She gave him one of the new clothes she had bought for herself, 'Go take a shower and come back.' He gave a sumptuous feast to the poor who had bathed and dressed in new clothes.

 When the feast was over he gave a pitcher full of gold coins in his hand,

 'From today you are not poor...

 With this money, do the business you want honestly and live with honor."

 Tears welled up in the eyes of the poor man who had been silent till then.

 'Why are you crying?' asked the king. Until now, I thought I was only born poor, Raja... It was at this moment that I understood that I was a born fool."

 To ask the king why you are saying that, "I saw the tower today for the first time in my life and asked the Lord why you are keeping me like this... Within a few minutes of asking, he sent you and changed my handwriting...

 His reply melted the king's heart. On my first child's birthday, we organized alms so that none of the villagers would go to bed hungry?

 But, hearing an innocent poor man moaning like this from hunger, he put his hand on the poor man's shoulder and said, "Excuse me... are you very hungry?" Ask that.

 The poor man, who hadn't paid much attention until then, woke up startled when he saw that the water in the pool had water on his head, kundalam in his ears, thirunir on his forehead, and vanchai on his face.

I have been a fool till today not understanding that if we ask God, He will give us many times more than what we have asked for," he cried.

 Like this, if something doesn't happen to us or something gets in the way, there must be a strong reason for it.

 If you don't get one, first believe that God will give you something better than average. If you believe, God will be ready to give it.
