உபுண்டு

ஒரு கிராமத்தில் சிறுவர்களுக்காக ஒரு போட்டி நடத்தினர். அவர்கள் ஒரு கூடை நிறைப் பழங்களை நிரப்பி ஒரு மரத்தின் கீழ் வைத்தார்கள்.

அங்கு உள்ள சிறுவர்களை அந்த மரத்திலிருந்து ஒரு நூறு மீட்டர் தள்ளி வரிசையாக நிற்க வைத்தார்கள்.

யார் முதலில் அந்த மரத்தைத் தொடுகிறாரோ அவர்களுக்கு அந்தக் கூடைப் பழம் முழுவதும் பரிசாகத் தரப்படும் என்று அறிவித்தார்கள். அவர்கள் அந்த சிறுவர்களைத் தயார் நிலையில் வைத்து விசில் ஊதினார். அப்பொழுது அந்தச் சிறுவர்கள் என்ன செய்தனர் தெரியுமா?.

 அவர்கள் அனைவரும்  ஒருவர் கையை ஒருவர் பிடித்துக் கொண்டு ஒன்றாக ஒடி மரத்தை அடைந்து, அந்தப் பழங்களை பகிர்ந்துக் கொண்டு சாப்பிடத் தொடங்கினர். ஊர் மக்கள் அனைவரும் ஆச்சரியத்துடன் அவர்களைப் பார்த்து ஏன் அவ்வாறு செய்தீர்கள்? என கேட்டனர்.

அதற்கு அனைவரும் ஒரே குரலில் 'உபுண்டு' எனக் குரல் எழுப்பினர். அதற்கு அர்த்தம் 'பிறர் சோகத்துடன் இருக்கும் போது எப்படி ஒருவர் மட்டும் சந்தோஷமாக இருக்கமுடியும்? என்பதன் பொருள்.

A competition was held for boys in a village. They filled a basket full of fruits and placed it under a tree.

 The boys there were made to stand in a row a hundred meters away from the tree.

 They announced that the first person to touch the tree would be rewarded with the entire basket of fruit. They kept the boys ready and blew the whistle. Do you know what those boys did then?

  They all joined hands and reached the tree together, sharing the fruits and started eating. Why did you do that when all the townspeople looked at them in amazement? They asked.

 Everyone shouted 'Ubuntu' in unison. It means 'How can one be happy when others are sad? Meaning of
