பேராசை பெரும் நஷ்டம் (Greed is a great loss)

ஒரு வேடன் காட்டுக்கு வேட்டைக்குப் போய், ஒன்றும் கிடைக்காமல் பல நாள் அலைந்து திரிந்து கொண்டிருந்தான். ஒரு நாள் அவன் ஒரு மானைக் கண்டான்.

அதன்பின்னே விரட்டிக்கொண்டு ஒடி அம்பு எய்து கொன்று அதைத் தூக்கிக் கொண்டு தன் இடம் நோக்கி நடந்தான். வழியில் ஒரு பெரிய பன்றியைக் கண்டான்.

உள்ள மான் பேதாதென்று,இந்தப் பன்றியையும் வேட்டையாடி கொன்றால் இரண்டு நாள் சாப்பாட்டுக்காகும் என்று அதன்மேல் அம்பெய்தான்.

அந்தப் பன்றி கோபம் கொண்டு அவன் மேல் பாய்ந்தது. அவனைக்கொன்று தானும் இறந்தது.

அப்பொழுது அந்த வழியாக ஒரு நரி வந்தது. செத்துக் கிடக்கும் வேடனையும், மானையும், பன்றியையும் கண்டு, ஆகா! மூன்று நாளுக்குச் சாப்பாட்டுக்குப் பஞ்சமில்லை என்று சொல்லிக் கொண்டே வேடன் வைத்திருந்த வில்லின் நனைப் போய் முதலில் கடித்தது.

நாண் அறுந்தவுடன், வில் கம்பு சடக்கென்று விரிந்து நரியின் வயிற்றில் குத்தியது.உடனே அந்த நரியும் செத்து விழுந்தது.
