நண்பர்கள்
ஒரு காட்டில் ஆமை, எலி, காகம், மான் ஆகிய நால்வரும் நல்ல நண்பர்களாக இருந்தார்கள்.

ஆமை அந்த காட்டில் உள்ள குளத்தில் இருந்தது. அதன் அருகில் ஒரு மரம் அதில் காகம் கூடுக் கட்டி இருந்தது. மரத்தடியில் ஒரு பொந்து அதில் எலி இருந்தது. ஆகா நண்பர்கள் அனைவரும் அருகில் அருகில் இருந்தன. மான் மட்டும் இவர்களை சந்திக்க வரும்.
இப்படி ஒருநாள் மான் தன் நண்பர்களை சந்திக்க வரும்போது, வழியில் வேடன் விரித்து வைத்துயிருந்த வலையில் சிக்கியது.
வெகுநேரமாகியும் நண்பனை காணமால், காகம் பறந்து பார்க்க வந்தது. அப்பொழுது மான் வலையில் சிக்கியதைக் கண்டு அதிர்ச்சியடைந்த காக்கா மற்ற நண்பர்களிடம் இதை தெரிவித்தது.
அந்த மூவரும் தன் நண்பனை காப்பாற்ற கிளம்பினார். அந்நேரம் வேடன் தொலைவில் வருவதைக் கண்ட அவர்கள், மானை அந்த வலையில் இருந்து எலி தன் பற்களால் கடித்து விடுவித்தது.
வேடன் அருகில் வந்ததும் மான் துள்ளிக்குத்தித்து காட்டுக்குள் ஒடியது, எலி அருகில் இருந்த சிறு ஒட ஒட்டைக்குள் மறைந்துக் கொண்டது. காகம் உயர பறந்துச் சென்றது. ஆனால், ஆமையால் வேகமாக நடக்க முடியாமல் அந்த வேடனிடம் சிக்கியது.
அதை தன் வைத்திருந்த பையில் போட்டுக் கொண்டு மான் ஒடிய திசையில் நோக்கி ஒடினான்.
மேலே இருந்து பார்த்த காகம் மீண்டும் ஆமை நண்பன் சிக்கியதைக் கண்டு அவனை காப்பாற்ற ஒரு யோசனை செய்தது.
காகம், எலியிடம் போய் நண்பா நம்முடைய நண்பன் ஆமையை வேடன் ஒரு பையில் வைத்து உள்ளான் அந்த பையை கடித்து ஆமையை வெளியே கொண்டு வர வேண்டும்.
அதற்கு எலி, வேடன் பையை கீழே வைக்க வேண்டுமே, அதை நான் பார்த்துக் கொள்கிறேன் என்று காகம் மானை நோக்கி வேகமாக பறந்தது. மானிடம், ஆமை சிக்கிய விவரத்தைக் கூறி நாம் எப்பொழுதும் சந்திக்கும் குளத்தில் நீ இறந்ததுப்போல் கிட நான் கொத்தி தின்னுவதைப்போல் செய்கிறேன்.
அதை பார்த்து வேடன் பையை கீழே வைத்து உன்னை தூக்க வருவான். அந்நேரம் எலி பையை கடித்தவுடன் ஆமை வெளியே வந்து குளத்திக்குள் சென்றுவிடும். நாமும் எளிதாக தப்பித்துவிடலாம் என்று கூறியது.
அதன்படி வேடன் கீழப் பையை வைத்து மானை தூக்கச் சென்றான். இந்நேரம் அவர்கள் திட்டம் நிறைவேறியது. நான்கு பேரும் தப்பித்துக் கொண்டனர்.
அந்த நான்கும் ஒன்றுக்கொன்று உற்ற உதவியாக இருந்து பெற்ற இன்பம் பெரிது. அவை வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் ஒற்றுமையாக இருந்து மகிழ்ச்சியாக வாழ்க்கை நடத்தின.
