தானம் செய்த நரி
ஒரு காட்டில் ஒரு யானை இறந்து கிடந்தது. அந்தப் பக்கமாக வந்த ஒரு நரி அதைக் கண்டது. அதை சப்பிட எண்ணி அதன் அருகில் சென்றது. அப்பொழுது அங்கு சிங்கம் வந்துசேர்ந்தது. நரியைக் கண்டு, "நீ இங்கு என்ன செய்கிறாய்? என்று கர்ஜித்தது சிங்கம்.
" அரசே, தாங்கள் கொன்றுபோட்ட இந்த யானையைக் காத்துக் கொண்டு நான் இருக்கிறேன் என்று நரிக் கூறியது.
நரி அடக்க ஒடுக்கமாகவும் சமாதானமாகவும் பேசியதைக் கண்ட சிங்கம், அதன்பேரில் இரக்கப்பட்டு, நரியே, இது நான் கொன்ற யானை இல்லை. ஆகவே நீயே இதை எடுத்துக்கொள் என்று சொல்லிச் சென்று விட்டது.
சிங்கம் சென்ற சிறிது நேரத்தில் அங்கு ஒரு புலி வந்துசேர்ந்தது. அது நரியை பார்த்து, நீ யார்? என்ன செய்துெகொ கொண்டிருக்கிறாய்? என்று உருமியது.
புலி அவர்களே, இதை ஒரு சிங்கம் கொன்று போட்டது. அந்தச் சிங்கம் இந்தப் பக்கத்தில் தான் எங்கோ ஒளிந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறது.
ஏதாவது புலி வந்தால் எனக்குச் சொல் என்று அந்த சிங்கம் சொல்லியிருக்கிறது. ஏன் என்று கேட்டேன்.
அதற்கு அந்த சிங்கம், முன்னொரு யானையைதான் கொன்று போட்டுவிட்டு, குளிக்கப் போய் இருந்தேன், ஒரு புலி வந்து அந்த யானையைக் கடித்துத் தின்று எச்சிலாக்கி விட்டது. ஆகவே புலியை அதற்குத் தண்டிக்க வேண்டும் என்று சொல்லியது?.
இவ்வாறு நரி சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் போதே புலி அலறியடித்து ஒடியது.
அதன் பிறகு ஒரு குரங்கு வந்தது. குரங்கைப் பார்த்த நரி வா, நண்பா இவ்வளவு பெரிய யானை இறந்துக் கிடக்கிறது. தின்ன ஆளில்லையே என்று தான் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேன். இதன் உடலைக் கிழித்து வேண்டிய அளவு தின்னு என்று நரி கூறியது.
குரங்கும் மிகுந்த ஆவலுடன் கூர்மையான தன் கை நகத்தால் யானையின் உடலைக் கிழித்தது. அது கிழித்து முடிந்த சமயம், ஐயோ சிங்கம்! சிங்கம், அதோ வருகிறது! என்று நரி கூச்சலிட்டது! சிங்கம் என்றவுடன் பயந்து போய்க் குரங்கு ஒட்டம் பிடித்தது.
'அப்பாடா இந்த பானையின் தடித்தத் தோலை எப்படிக் கிழிப்பதென்று யோசித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேன். தானம் கொடுப்பதுப் போல் காட்டிக் குராங்கை ஏமாற்றிக் கிழித்தாயிற்று, தின்ன வேண்டியதுதான் என்று நரி யானையைத் தின்னப் போகும் பொழுது அங்கு மற்றொரு நரி வந்து சேர்ந்தது. உடனே அந்த நரியின் மேல் பாய்ந்து சண்டையிட்டு அடித்து விரட்டி விட்டது.
பின் அந்த யானை இறைச்சியைத் தனக்கே சொந்தமாக வைத்துக் கொண்டது.
